NASCAR Goodness

Thursday night my friend and I went to Fontana to this big block party they were having with a bunch of NASCAR drivers. It was cool, I got to see a few of the big names, got some autographs and a picture taken with one. The only thing that sucked was while I was standing in line for a driver, it started lightning, then it preceded to rain, then it thundered, then it hailed and rained some more. Needless to say, I got soaked (I'm still sick too..). But it was fun. :) After that, my friend and I went to Dave & Busters and met and got autographs from a bunch of truck series drivers, which was awesome. Then we caught a late dinner at Outback. Definite good times.

Last night I was in Fontana again for the truck race. It was so much fun! I had never been to a truck race...my friend said I was no longer a truck virgin...heh. It is so awesome to watch them race under the lights with, their cars all shiny and pretty. Tomorrow morning I will be in Fontana again for the nextel cup race...yay!! I'm so excited. It's going to be a good race, I can feel it.

But before I can have fun again, I must do homework and go to work. Blah...if it weren't for those things I could be there NOW watching qualifying and watching the Busch race. Oh well...moving on from NASCAR...

I got a license plate frame for my car. They didn't quite do what I wanted them to, but it still came out nice. I wanted the top to say "Beautiful Disaster" and the bottom to say "Flying Down the Street Again." Well, they left off the "again" on the bottom...I'm guessing because it wouldn't fit, but I actually like the way it turned out, so that is cool. It is chrome w/black lettering, in "Buddy" style font and it looks good on my car. ;)

Did you know you can get a "paper cut" from mini-blinds? I didn't until I got one last night...took off a nice slice of skin and hurt like a mother and it's all sore now. Grr.

My roommate and I finally hunted down the 4th season to Sex and the City! We have been looking for like a month and we could never find it. We were specifically looking at Target because they are only $30 right now...anyways, we watched a few episodes last night. Good times.

Alright, I must get some work done...sorry for the mostly about NASCAR post. :)

Blah

It seems as though I am getting sick. :( I noticed it yesterday morning when I woke up - there was a slight tightness in my chest, by the time I got to work last night, I was coughing and it was hurting really bad when I coughed. Today, it is still there and my nose is a little runny. I can't get sick now...I have some NASCAR fun this weekend. Grr.

All of this nasty weather has me thinking...not just here in SoCal, but all over the world...the Tsunami, the earthquake in Iran yesterday...I am beginning to wonder if Mother Nature isn't just pissed off. Now, I am not much of an environmentalist, but could this bad weather be some sort of karmic retribution? I definitely believe in karma and maybe now us humans are getting ours.

And speaking of weather, you wouldn't believe how many girls I saw today wearing flip flops or high heels or high heeled boots. Come on, who wears that when it is raining cats and dogs? I was watching them and they were all walking so carefully, so they didn't fall on their ass. The only thought that came to my mind was if they are that stupid or that fashion aware that they *had* to wear those shoes during wet weather, then they deserve to fall. I think it would be funny. I am mean, I know, but come on, be a little practical.

Remember the stuffed duck I bought and put in my car? I have named him Aflac..he is white, w/the orange feet and beak and besides, I love the Aflac duck....well, I love ducks period.

I can't believe it is already the 22nd of February. I have so much to get done in the next few weeks. I have to get my internship paper work done, get my resume done and checked off and then I get to start looking for internships *gulp* Not to mention I have reading, studying, tests to take, etc. Fun, fun stuff coming up in my life.

Alright, must go make some lunch - take care everyone. :)

Please Note:

In the event that I don't post on here for a REALLY long time, it is probably because I have been washed away by all the rain. If that is the case, hopefully I can find my way back. ;)

February 19, 2005

I think I can count on 2 hands how many times the rain and thunder woke me up last night. I swear it down poured from after midnight to 10am this morning. I knew it was supposed to rain, but I didn't know it was going to be this crazy.

I did my taxes this morning...I have to pay the state money! It's only $9, but still. As if this state doesn't drain me enough as it is..."nope, we need 9 more dollars from Amanda.." Guess it could be worse though.

You know, it is quite nice being the only one at home. After the NASCAR race is over, I shall do some reading, then I need to cook some food to take to work tonight, then shower (might invert those 2) and then go to work at 5. Last night wasn't busy at all, so hopefully tonight won't be too bad. I just hope it's not pouring when I have to leave. Right now it looks like the sun is out or is trying to come out, but that doesn't mean anything, knowing Southern CA weather and how unpredictable it is.

I went to a movie screening on Thurs. night for a movie called Two For The Money. It wasn't too bad; there were a few things that were confusing and out of place, which I mentioned on the little survey afterwards. It wasn't a movie that I'd be interested in if I saw previews for it, but I did enjoy it. I didn't know much about it going into it.

It was so cool, for Valentine's Day, my parents got me a Garfield pillow..it's so cute! And it is comfy. My parents are so sweet.

February 16, 2005

I am so glad I don't work the next 2 days, that place was driving me crazy!

I bought some half off Valentine's Day stuff last night...just a candle, some candy, and some socks that say "Love Bug." I also bought some new Easter $1 items that are out, I bought a little stuffed duck, which is now sitting on the dashboard in my car and I bought some more socks w/little chickies on them.

I have a lot of work to catch up on for school. I went to my Geology class yesterday and he sprung this quiz on us that is tomorrow, who knows how good I'm going to do on that one, I need to do research on Will & Grace, but most of all, I just have reading to do. I would like to get caught up by the end of this weekend, but we'll just see what happens.

I really wish you could post pictures in your blog by uploading them, instead of them having to have a URL. It annoys me.

So, I watched Garden State last weekend and while I liked it right afterwards, now I am questioning it. I certainly don't think it was a bad movie at all, but I think I was expected to be blown away because of all the hype, and I wasn't. The biggest thing that bothers me is that it seems like Zach Braff's character was supposed to be all deep and dynamic, and I don't think the movie pulled it off very well - maybe in the script it was that way. Every one that I know who has seen it, says it's amazing, but I don't see it. Maybe I will watch it again.

Happy Valentine's Day to those celebrating and for those of us who are not, let's go get drunk.

Unwelcomed Phone Calls

A few weeks ago, around 12:30am, I received a phone call from a number I didn't really recognize. Normally, I would have ignored the phone, but the area code kinda looked like my sister's area code, so I picked it up just in case. It was this guy and he proceeded to call me baby and the like and I asked him, "who is this?" And he told me some name and I told him that I didn't know anyone by that name and he must have the wrong number. Then he said, "this is the number you gave me." And I told him I never talked to him before. He then told me that we had just talked on this Partyline and that I gave him my cell number. First of all, I had to ask him what a damn Partyline was and then I said the girl he was talking to must have gave him the wrong number or he took the number down wrong because I was not this girl he was talking to on some stupid Partyline. I asked him to repeat the number this girl gave him and he did and it was my number, so I don't know how in the hell that happened. I tried tell him that I just didn't want to talk and he kept saying things like, I bet you're beautiful, you have a sexy voice, what are you wearing, all of this BS. Then he asks if I have a b/f, which I say yes to thinking it might get him off the phone, it didn't. Now I know you are probably wondering why I didn't hang up on him - I'm too nice that's why and I know I would have felt bad. Silly me, I know. He then goes on to ask about my "rack" and wanted to know I wanted to hear him "jack off." And I said, "okay, I'm going." And I hung up.

Last night my phone rings after 3:30am and my phone just says "private call." I never answer those, so I let it ring, assuming it was a wrong number and they'd figure that out when they got to my voicemail. I was wrong, it was that guy. He left a message on my phone, so I erased it and right after I hung up from my voicemail, he called again and left another voicemail. I didn't listen to that message, I just hung up.

Now I am a little freaked out. Why would this guy keep my number?? Oh and now he knows my name from my voicemail. I didn't tell him anything about myself. I was VERY uncomfortable w/the fact that he had my number when he first called, but I never thought he'd use it again. I didn't even do anything and I'm getting harassed. I hope he doesn't call again...if he does, I will probably find a way to block his number.

Quickie

I am very tired this morning - Still getting used to my 8:30am class.

All my classes are going well so far. I decided that I am writing a script for Will & Grace, my hist. of Rock n Roll class is good - we listened to How Much Is That Doggie in the Window at the end of class, so now it is stuck in my head. Pop Music and American Culture is going well - I'm actually excited about my 12-15pg research paper in that class, it can be about anything dealing with music and American Culture. My earthquake class is rather boring and my teacher seems to be uncomfortable with teaching - maybe that's not his day job. And my American Film 2 class is good - Last night we watched Rebel w/o a Cause and although I've seen it many times, it never hurts to watch James Dean another time.

Might go to qualifying for a drag race tomorrow - I've never been, so that is going to be fun. Must bring the ear plugs though. Oh and this is assuming it doesn't rain tomorrow, which it looks like it is going to.

Not much else is going on - same ol, same ol....

Candy hearts are yummy.

Haunted Work, Dream Cars and Addicting Music

Work has been a pain in the butt the last 2 nights - we've been pretty busy. I went back to work Friday after 2 days off to find out that a lady who worked there, the one who trained me, got arrested and they are charging her with extortion. Apparently, the security guys saw her put a $100 bill in her shoe. This lady was totally awesome, so it makes me sad. I don't want to believe that she did it, but, I mean, why would the security people make it up, ya know? And if she did do it, I mean come on, was it worth it?

I went to Red Robin for lunch today w/one of my roommates and 2 of our friends. It was a lot of fun - I really miss them. They used to live here in the dorms, but they graduated.

Back to work - apparently, our store is haunted. I have yet to experience anything, but one lady claims to have seen a man after the store closed and then he disappeared....and then one said she heard it whisper her name in her ear, and then another said she felt a cool breeze by her, her hair stood up, and she heard it say "hey." All of this happened in 3 departments towards the back of the store. Now, I am not knocking them, because I totally believe in that stuff, but at the same time I can't help but wonder if their imaginations are running away with them. All I know is, if I were to experience something, it would freak me out. I may believe, but it doesn't mean I'll like it or welcome it.

My dream car is parked downstairs in the lot - a 1957 Chevy Belair. Blue with a white hard top, whitewall tires, original seats, every thing. I parked across from it and took a looksie. Actually, I want a 1957 Chevy Belair Convertible, but hell, I'd settle for a hard top. It's a sweet looking car. I will probably never get one, which is why it is my dream car.

I am completely and utterly addicted to Rob Thomas' new single. I am constantly listening to it. He is so hot...damn... ;)

Back In The Saddle Again

I tried to update this thing yesterday but because of CSUF's wonderful network and how it likes to quit and random times, I wasn't able to get this posted and I really can't remember what I wrote about.

2nd day of classes today...at 8:30 this morning I started off with History of Rock Music...I'm going to like the class, but today he went over beats, melody, harmony, rhythm, scales, etc. All things I learned when I started playing music and learned again when I had to take Music Appreciation. I understand why there is a need to go over, but at the same time, it is boring to me. Not to mention that it's 8:30am and I am dead tired. I have another class, American Culture and Pop Music at 11:30 and then Geological Hazards of California at 2:30, and then work at 5. If you haven't noticed, Tuesdays, from now until the end of the semester, will be considered my hell day. 7am - Midnight...fun stuff!!

I had one class yesterday - Sitcom Writing, which we will be required to write a script for an existing, in production, sitcom. Since it has to be currently in production, I can't write one for Friends, which is what I was hoping I could do. And, truth is, I don't even watch that much TV anymore, so I have no clue what show I could write for. I was thinking about Joey, only because I already know that character, but I guess I'll see.

Bought a new watch at work last night since I can't find my old one...I haven't seen it in a week, of course, now that I bought a new one, I will probably find the old one. Some how life always seems to work that way.

Work is...ugh...ya know, there's a few things I don't understand. For some reason, the managers at night have been pushing us to get out before midnight. Actually, on Sunday night we were kicked at at 11:15pm and we weren't even done and the store looked like crap. So, I am trying to figure out why they are doing this. I am wondering if it is because of payroll and if it is, then why are they hiring new people + cutting our hours? That's what's annoying me the most. Don't cut my hours just so some new person can start. And as far as getting out of work early, I mean, yeah, I like it, but I could also use the money. Freaking corporation, crap.

And he won't let me work!
And I hate Central Perk!
You're all invited to bite me!"
