Still Adrift

Speaking.

I am so upset. The new 311 single is out there, begging to be listened to, and I am having trouble listening to it because I'm on dial-up. Well, let me rephrase that, I have heard the song in 10 second increments. What I have heard, I am absolutely in love with. I really want to hear it w/no interruptions, but it just doesn't stream well on dial-up. Grr.

For the first time, in my 23 years, I snuck into a movie. On Friday night I went with my roommate and her friend to see Wedding Crashers and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We paid for Wedding and snuck into Charlie. I have to admit that I didn't expect a lot out of Wedding Crashers, but it was freaking hilarious. I mean, the table scene? I about died. Vince Vaughn is just awesome. I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Johnny is just amazing. My goodness. And oh so yummy. The only guy who can play a freak, but still play it attractively.

Work kinda sucked last night...I guess this pregnant woman and her b/f were arguing in the store and she had sat on the ground cause she didn't feel good or something and he wanted her to get up and she wouldn't, so he started beating up on her while she was on the ground...with their 4 yr. son there, mind you. So that was some drama. I saw part of it. He walked out of the store and she ran into the fitting room and the cops came and had to take a report and everything. Pretty scary.

I am going to look into getting a new computer. My poor eMachine. I think it's time to retire it. But I have had good times...and plenty of problems with it too.

311 concert in one week...hell yeah!!! :D

UPDATE: Heard the 311 single...I am in love.

I had a fun night last night...hung out with Merc and Ong, she cooked some good food and then we played Monopoly. I actually won! I never win at that game, it was kinda cool.

It's warm today...it's not even noon and it's already 90 degrees. And what sucks even more is that, according to miss weather lady, there is a lot of moisture in the air, so the humidity is up. I can handle the heat, but I hate humidity. I know a few of you experience that all the time and I feel for you.

I got my 311 tickets in the mail...yay! Less than two weeks. It will be a wonderful night.

Thanks to my mom, I have discovered that, after this week, I only have 3 more weeks left at my internship. I'm actually kind of excited. I am learning things, but the bottom line is that I am an intern and I'm not included in a lot of the workings of the business. So, I guess it is time to get my resume together and all that jazz. After my internship is done, I plan to go home for a few days and then come back and really actively search for a job. I actually got an e-mail today from a girl from school who is a Production Assistant for Entertainment Tonight. She says they are hiring more PA's and e-mailed me the info. There are a lot of PA jobs out there and I probably shouldn't be too picky for my first job, but I really don't want a PA job. I should call her and find out exactly what her job entails. And how much it pays. I have to admit, though, that the thought of commuting everyday for work doesn't sound that thrilling to me. Right now I can barely handle the 2 days for my internship.

I decided to read Phantom of the Opera. I rented it last week and I loved it. I had no idea it was a book, until I was looking up the movie on the internet. I haven't gotten that far into it yet, but I am looking forward to reading it.

I think that is all. Hope all is well in everyone else's world.

I've been neglecting my poor journal. I really haven't been that busy, just haven't had a whole lot to say.

I officially bought my 311 tickets, so that is cool. I can't wait! I also can not wait for the new album. I may be broke, but I always make room for 311.

My internship has been okay. They haven't had a whole lot for me to do, so that kind of sucks. Thursdays seem to be the worst days because there's two interns there and enough work for one. Not to mention my supervisor's computer is out, so he's using one of the intern computers, so on Thursdays I can't even surf the net if I have nothing to do, I just sit there. It's so much fun driving 2 hours in hella traffic to do that and NOT get paid for it.

Work has been the same. My schedule for next week is kind of weird...They have me coming in at 3:30 and 4pm instead of 5. I wonder why...but at the same time I have next Tuesday off, so I will have a day of NOTHING, which will be AWESOME.

I bought a new bathing suit. My plan is to swim as a form of exercise. I would be much more inclined to do that than to go out and take a walk.

A guy's car at work got broken in to. So, I am starting to think of security devices for my car. I am convinced that alarms don't work, so I was looking at other possibilities. There's, of course, the club and a brake lock thingy. Then I found Personal Alarm Pagers, which is a alarm but only pages you if something is up and it doesn't alert the whole world. Then there's Passive Immobilizers, which are basically keys with computer chips and only that key will start the car, nothing else. I also found out that most newer cars have this, and I believe that's what my parents' car has, but not mine. Just some thoughts. I guess I am just paranoid, but I dunno what I'd do if something happened to my car.

I saw Batman Begins. It was awesome...Christian Bale did a great job...he's not bad to look at either. I hope they keep the series going with him and the director.

See, nothing of great significance going on...I hope everyone is well. :)

Turn Signals

They were invented for a reason. As the name suggests, they are meant to signal other drivers around you that you are turning either left, or right. BUT there are other good uses for turn signals. They work wonders on the freeway. Again, you turn on your signal to let other drivers around you know that you either want to move into the lane on the left or into the lane on the right. I am beginning to discover that people don't realize that turn signals can be used for this purpose. They are also the same people who don't realize the intial reason for turn signals. It's like they don't know they exist. Consider this scnenario: You are on the freeway, stuck in traffic. Let's say you're going 15mph, stop and go. If you are like me, you leave a decent gap between you and the car in front of you, as to not have to hit your brakes every 2 seconds (thus saving your brakes). Since you are leaving a decent sized gap, it is inevitable that there will be another car that insists on occupying that space. This occurs for a few reasons. First, it's an almost instinctive reaction, "Oh! An empty space! I must get in it!" Second, if there is a space it means that, "THAT lane MUST be moving faster, so I have to get over because I have to be one car length ahead!" This is fine and dandy and I've gotten used to this, people are ignorant and I accept that. WHAT I do not accept is NOT USING TURN SIGNALS. I do not accept the moronic drivers that just cut me off and make me slam on my brakes. See, I am a nice driver, if I see that someone has their turn signal on, and I can slow down or speed up to let them in my lane, I will. I mean, why not? I'm still going to get to where I need to go. What I don't understand is that if you use your turn signal, someone might be apt to let you into their lane. They will say, "hey, I know what they're doing. I think I can help them out." But if you do not use your turn signal, nobody knows what you want and they can't help you. Instead, you create havoc and in a lot incidents, accidents because you don't have common sense to flip that little lever on the left side of your steering wheel up or down.

*I may have offended some drivers. Especially the ones who think they are hot shit, drive hot cars and feel the need to show off. For that I do not apologize, because, well, it's annoying and pisses me off. And in the broader scheme of things, it's unsafe and I don't want to get caught up in something because of some idiot*

Okay, I'm done.
