Still Adrift

Speaking.

I drank last night...I would say I got a little drunk...I wasn't stumbling over and I could walk okay, but I was in a state where I would do something and 5 min. later I either couldn't remember doing it or it seemed like I did it a long time ago. A girl my roommate works with had a Halloween/Birthday party for her dad, so we went...I wasn't going to, but I'm glad I did. I think I needed to let loose and have some fun.

So tomorrow begins an interesting work schedule...3 days of 4am -1245pm. Yay, right? My goal is to get in bed by 10pm tonight, that'll give me 5 hours. I really don't think I could make myself go to bed earlier...really depends on how tired I am.

I went out shopping today and bought a new pair of work pants and 2 shirts. Now, normally I refuse to pay full price for a pair of pants I am going to work in, but they were cute...and they are corduroy. What was even cooler is that my total came out to $75 and the girl ringing me up asked if I had a coupon, to which I responded that I didn't and haven't gotten any in a long time and she scanned a coupon for me to give me $25 off, so I basically got pants, and 2 shirts for the price of the pants. I thought that was very sweet of her.

My roommate and I are finally getting DSL. I'm so excited! We only ordered it for one computer, so we both can't be online at the same time, but that's okay. I am so sick of dial up.

I miss my parents and friends...especially Monique. Wish I could go home, but the earliest I could do that is probably late Dec. or Jan. Sometimes it's hard not having them around.

I think I was told that I haven't updated in a long ass time, so here goes...

Looks like I am officially being promoted at work. I talked to my boss today and he is putting me and another team member on “Temporary Team Lead” status, so we will begin training and doing the job, w/the pay increase, but we won’t have to do interviews until February. He is going to try to put me in the Domestics/Luggage departments, which would include, curtains, sheets, towels and all that jazz. I’m looking forward to it, but I am nervous at the same time. I’m nervous about the job itself and also being in a supervisor position and how people might look at me differently. I’ve been pretty neutral with everyone, so hopefully it won’t be an issue. I think I’ll be starting in about 2 weeks. I think more than anything, I’m looking forward to the extra money I’ll be getting. Going to try to pay down my credit cards and start saving some money. I would love nothing more than to be able to stand a little stronger on my feet. I just hope I don't regret staying in retail for another Christmas season.

In other news...

I now have a new air mattress. It is lovely...it has a velvety top, so my sheets don't slide off and better yet, it stays aired up. It is quite comfy...gotta love Coleman.

This morning I woke up with a feeling in my chest...the feeling that lets you know that you are about to get sick. I've had this feeling before w/o really getting sick, so I hope that's what happens this time. Though, a lot of people have been sick at work, so who knows. Ickers.

Now, is it just me, or does it freak anyone else out that Bush is president when new people need to be appointed...like the Supreme Court? His decisions will affect us for the rest of our lives...am I the only one who's scared? He should not be allowed to make anymore decisions...I mean, look where we are. So sad.

Now for sports...

Yay for the Raiders finally winning their 2nd game of the season...

Boo to Gordon who won the NASCAR race...kinda glad I didn't see it now...

The White Sox have won 2 games...my roommate is going for them, but I am having a hard time rooting for them...the first two games have been good, though.

On to weather...

It is cool, cloudy and gloomy here in the OC and I love it...I'll take clouds over the sun any day. Wonder what that says about me??

Let's look ahead to upcoming events...

Sir Paul in a little over 2 weeks...yeah buddy.

I got my hair cut today...I always let it go until it starts driving me insane and I can't do anything with it and then I cut it. It's sort of short...a tad below my shoulders..and layered. Cut probably 3-4in. off. I am happy though, my head is much lighter.

I am frustrated w/my air mattress. It seems as though the leak is getting worse...It went from airing it up once every 2 weeks or so, to every other night, to every night. This last week, I go to bed w/it aired up and when I wake up it is completely flat and I am basically sleeping on the floor. I tried to find the leak today, for about 30 min. w/no luck. Grr. I may buy a new one...Target has some cheap ones, like $20 I think.

I'm in a bit of a pickle...not a bad one, just trying to figure out what to do. I've been offered a supervisor position at Target. I was told if I wanted it, it was mine. So, now I need to decide what to do. I am already sick of my job and it burns me out, but it would mean a pay increase and 40 hrs. a week. Not to mention supervisor experience for my resume. I have been looking for jobs, but nothing's really biting. I would have to make at least a 6 month commitment to Target if I decided to take the job. So, I have no idea what to do. Right now I'm thinking I should do it, but who knows how I'll feel in a few hours.

Even though it's only October, I have in my possession a 2006 calendar. I saw it tonight at the .99 Cent Store and grabbed it...it's 365 Days of Cats, with a kitty picture on each day. I can't wait to use it! I like cats too much for my own good I think.

For the first time since I’ve had my license, which is over 5 years, I got pulled over. I was on my way home from doggy sitting for Merc and Ong…and was about 2 min. from home. I was driving and out of nowhere I saw this cop behind me, I thought it was odd, but I just kept on my merry way. I turn a corner and he turns and he’s right behind me, so I start to get worried and then his lights come on. He pulled me over for doing 50 in a 35. He was cool though, didn’t write me a ticket, just told me to slow down. And if I remember correctly, he was quite cute. I coulda been like Rachel in Friends when she and Ross are in the Porsche and she gets pulled over…all flirty. “Officer Pretty.” Heh.

Found some jobs I am going to apply for tomorrow. I need to fix my cover letter a little. They’re all clerical type jobs. Right now I am looking for something local and at least $10/hr, so I can save up some money and try to get things paid off. You may not understand what I am about to say, especially how much I bitch about Target, but I think I may keep Target has a part time job when I find another job….like 15 hrs. or something like that. Just to get a little more money coming in. I think if I am not there that much, it won’t piss me off so badly. Plus, I have such good friends there that I hate to leave them.

Today was hot and windy as hell. The wind actually caused the screen in our front room to fall out. I’m glad it didn’t fall 3 floors to the ground. Seems maintenance came and fixed it, so that’s good. I am impatiently waiting for fall.

I’m reading the book Sex and the City. It’s a bit of an adjustment after seeing the show so much, but it’s still pretty cool. I am enjoying it.

I can’t believe it is October. Actually, for me, this week has been flying by. Not sure why, though.

In other news, I think I will become a cat lady. I’m sure cats are much better companions than men, no? They appreciate you, show you love, let you rub their bellies, like to cuddle…etc. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Hope everyone is doing well and hope you aren’t nearly as bitter as I am. :)
