Meeting with the Boss

I had a fantastic day. My boss stopped by, we talked and I have whole new set of goals to reach. I will list what he wants from me or the hospital in general and, in parentheses, I will bitch about it.

1) "Reduce hours worked...effective this week. If not done, you will be written up." (Yeah, okay, that doesn't seem too hard. Some days we do have more people than work, so that makes sense.)

2) "Raise revenue." (Hmm, okay. To raise revenue we need to get more people through the door. Getting more people through the door will result in more appts and more work...but wait...we've reduced hours and we don't have the staff to accommodate the additional clients coming in. And because we don't have enough staff, we get behind in the day; there just aren't enough people to go around. Getting behind causes people to be upset...they could call corporate on us. But, that's okay, I'll deal w/that when I have time. Getting behind also means we work later...which means we run into overtime...which means, they're paying us more than if we would have just staffed appropriately.)

3) "You are now closing at 6pm on Saturdays, not 5pm." (Well, okay, I'm usually there until that time or later anyway, so whatever.)

4) "The hospital needs to be open on Mondays, when you're normally closed, to sell 'Over the Counter' medications." (Hold up...you want to reduce hours BUT also want us to take on 8 more hours a week so we can MAYBE raise weekly revenue by a couple hundred dollars??)

5) "Reduce overtime to 0-5hrs a week." (Right, so...someone comes in at 555p wanting to be seen when we close at 6. Work policy says we need see them, no matter what. So, we see them, which results in a receptionist, which most of the time is me, and a nurse to stay behind. The nurse to work on the pet, me to charge them out and run my sales audit. There's at least 2 hours of OT right there...half of our weekly allowed limit. Also refer to #2.)

6) "Make $13,000 a week." (This falls into increasing revenue. Refer to numbers 1-5.)

Tell me, does any of this make sense?? Is it logical to you? Do you now need to wonder why I can not stand the company I work for? And if these 'logical' goals are not met, I will be written up. It is all BULLSHIT.
